Gotta Love These Guys

An inexhaustive 40-year collage of ineffective community wisdom:

Do what you like.

Never trust anyone over 30.

War is unhealthy for children and other living things.

If it feels good, do it.

Turn on, tune in, drop out.

The Silent Majority.

Back to the country.

Heartland.

Family values.

Government can't solve the problem; Government is the problem.

No new taxes.

The Contract With America.

No child left behind.

Compassionate conservatism.

War on terror.

  1. America has lost direction.Attack attack attack.Aggression will solve nothing. The land of the free has forgotten it's simple naivety which endeared it to the World. The average American was horrified by 9/11 and completely fails to understand that Palestine is the route of the problem.Until this issue is put to bed the war with Islam will continue.

  2. You bring up lots of issues, here, and I'll do the short response. Naivety is part of America's problem. It feels that any problem is best dealt with directly and 'simply'.

'Simplicity', now, though, translates into policing, since, metaphorically, our adversaries have failed to reciprocate our 'honest handshake of friendship'.

Except among the diplomats and academics, you won't find complex answers. American opinion, which sees any prejudice as 'democratic', forgets that a well-run democracy needs committed and intelligent citizenship.

And it's the impulsive prejudices that drive elective politics and stances of public officials.

I'm going to take off my Pessimism Cap now, and watch some old Frank Capra movies.
